Annual Gifts Sustain Programs As the number of children in the Yakima Valley requiring services and support through the Village continues to increase, we rely on the generosity of a community committed to serving. "The outpouring of donations to Children's Village this year has enabled us to nearly meet our annual goal of raising $500,000 for core services and therapies," says Patterson. As another school year comes to a close, The Memorial Foundation is sending out a big thank you to local high schools that participated with YouthWorks this year. Starting off with the Spirit Chains, students from 12 high local high schools joined together in selling twenty-five cent paper links to make incredibly long Spirit Chains, raising over $8,000 for children's health care needs in our community. As the school year continued, so did the spirit of high school fundraising with the high school boys' pageants. Students from six high schools spent several months participating in raising funds and awareness for children's health care needs in our community. This partnership of Memorial's YouthWorks and participating local high schools extends beyond fundraising to a character building program by helping to build future productive, responsible philanthropists. A record number of youth were involved this in this year's YouthWorks projects; over 150 students participated in Spirit Chains and pageants to help raise more than $87,000 for children's health care programs, with 100% of the money supporting children's health care needs here in our community.
