Children's Programs and Children's Village
Serving children with special health care or developmental needs and their families, this collaborative, comprehensive, and family-centered organization aims to meet the needs of individualized care in juvenile-related health care concerns. Programs funded by The Memorial Foundation address social, emotional, behavioral and communication needs, medical specialty clinics, and other core costs of the Yakima and Sunnyside Children's Village sites.
Children's Village was created by local community agencies to serve children with special health care needs. Since its opening in 1997 it has provided integrated educational, medical, dental, mental health, and family support services for children with special health care or developmental needs, streamlining services for many families in the region.

Celebrating 10 Years with Gratitude
This fall brought the stars out as Children's Village celebrated our 10th Anniversary - and we couldn't have done it without you. More than 3,500 stars - each representing a child who received services through Children's Village this past year - decorated the halls, activity rooms and stairwells of the Village. The wave of stars and outpouring of visitors was a powerful display of the many lives that are touched in a meaningful way by your significant contributions.
We truly are grateful for our community's extraordinary financial support of Children's Village through gifts made to The Memorial Foundation. Children's Village literally would not be here without the generous donations of our community. Each gift helps to provide services and support to families in ways that produce long lasting positive outcomes.
At Children's Village we believe that children with special needs deserve support to learn, grow and achieve their potential. It's clear the community of Yakima agrees. Thank you for your continued contributions to The Memorial Foundation through the sharing of your time, talents and financial support. You are making a meaningful and lasting difference in our community's families everyday.
With sincere gratitude,
Diane Patterson

Taylor Garent, Miracle Child
His tender heart and terrific sense of humor make six-year-old Taylor Garent a favorite with his classmates. But it's his courage as a cancer survivor that sets him apart as a truly remarkable child. After fighting what appeared to be a stubborn ear infection, doctors referred Taylor to a specialist. A muscular tumor that had originated in his jaw was quickly growing into his ear and the lining of his brain. (more...)

Turner's has given Carlee a set of physical and learning challenges that this very curious, friendly, philosophical girl meets with a smile and a "can do" spunk.. Carlee and her 6-year-old brother, Tanner, have been going to Children's Village for as long as they can remember. (more...)

Governor Visits Children's Village
In May, Governor Christine Gregoire visited Children's Village to observe how agencies come together to improve the health of children with special needs. While at the Village, Governor Gregoire toured the facilities, met with board members and visited with children during their appointments. Much to her surprise, during one stop on the tour, Governor Gregoire was presented with a personally handmade laniard and bracelet made by Eric Halvorson, who receives services from Children's Village. Before leaving, Governor Gregoire said that Children's Village is "a perfect example for the state".
